Our Story

In May of 2006, Julian’s opened its doors for business and because of our loyal clientele, we continue to grow and prosper. With more than twenty years of experience in the Italian restaurant business, my wife Kara and I, with the support of our families, decided to open our own pizzeria.

Kara and I started working for her parents at their local Italian restaurants Bambino Huey Cafe and Boccone’s Italian Restaurant when we were in high school. We learned much of what we know today from them. The lessons that they taught us about cooking with the highest quality ingredients and providing exceptional customer service, are the core values we operate with today. Our General Manager Tina Schmidt also began her career at Bambino Huey and Boccone’s and has been instrumental in our growth and success because of her dedication and loyalty for the past 17 years.

The San Antonio community quickly found out that Julian’s is the place to come for outstanding pizza and Italian specialties. The business has grown from primarily a pizzeria to a restaurant that now serves a diverse Italian menu. Hard work, determination, and constant dedication are what makes Julian’s a great success.

Julian’s Italian Pizzeria & Kitchen is a unique concept that allows customers the opportunity to dine in a relaxed family atmosphere while enjoying a quality product for reasonable prices. Our mission at Julian’s has always been to provide delicious food, using the highest quality ingredients, while providing outstanding customer service. Pizza is what Julian’s is known for, but other house specialties include stromboli, calzone, a variety of fresh salads, and several authentic pasta dishes.

Our kids Cole and Hannah grew up in the restaurants, and they spent the majority of their time watching their parents work hard to create successful restaurants. In the past year, Cole and Hannah have joined our team after they finished college. Cole graduated from the University of Incarnate Word with a Bachelor’s in Economics and a Master’s in Finance. Hannah graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. We are incredibly grateful that our kids joined our team to further grow our family owned and operated business.

I believe that our delicious food is what our reputation is built on, but it is the little things that we do at Julian’s that keep our customers coming back time and time again. Outstanding customer service is one of the things that truly sets us apart. On most occasions, you’ll find me in the kitchen helping the cooks prepare the food, or Cole and Hannah working at any of our three locations. My nephew Christian runs our Alamo Heights location further establishing our family operated business. Customers are often greeted by their first name, and our regulars consider themselves a part of the family. Our dedication to customer service means that we strive to provide each customer the most friendly and outstanding dining experience.
